There was an earthquake here recently which we felt in the middle of the night. I was sleeping when I felt it and woke up startled. It was over before I even stepped out of bed. About 10 people have died in another oblast (State) as a result.
At the English camp that we sponsor every summer, there was a minor accident where a young student went on a field trip and broke her arm. this incident has caused us to think about many issues involved in having such a camp.
The person in charge of the building where we held the English camp is interested in hiring for pay and English teacher to teach at a public school. We believe that a short-termer would make an excellent candidate for this position. Anyone interested?
After failing for the past two years in our attempt to grow lettuce in our garden, we've more than compensated for that this summer. The abundance is overwhelming and we can't keep up with the growth! We've served meat with the lettuce a few times to our local friends but because they're unaccustomed to eating hot meat with the cold lettuce, it hasn't been a successful acquaintance.
Our visitors from America were the highlights of our summer. We loved seeing the old familiar faces and showing them the culture here. The kids had a fabulous time and so did we. From the visit of their grandparents as well as friends from our hometown, we were truly blessed by their willingness to make the time to come.
